I remember going to Kings Weston House for a ball organised by the R.I.B.A. around 1973. All the ground floor rooms were used and decorations were everywhere. I lived at Winterbourne at the time, as a young mother who did not drive. I had no idea where Kings Weston was in relation to Bristol as a whole. Now I live relatively locally and have often walked around the estate and taken grand children there, discovering the woods and remains of the US soldiers’ buildings when they were stationed there, prior to D-Day.
