A series of photographs that were taken during 1987 and the early 1990s by Bristol City Council’s City Design Team, who we than for letting us scan these, and when both the historic Loggia and Brewhouse were derelict and heavily decayed. These are an important record of the buildings before they were restored and a future secured for them.
The Brewhouse interior is shown to contain much of the original fireplaces that were used as part of the brewing process to heat water, whilst the vestigial remains of the old banqueting House cling on around the Loggia. The Loggia images also show the outlines of lost walls that were exposed during archaeology works in that area.
